Laser Hair RemovalLASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective solution for reducing unwanted body and facial hair because it impairs the growth capacity of hair follicles in their active growth stage. Results are longer lasting than traditional hair removal techniques-shaving, waxing, tweezing and depilatory creams-and treatments take less time and are less painful than electrolysis.

What does the treatment involve?
A laser or pulsed-light beam is applied to the skin of the desired treatment area, to damage the hair follicle beneath the skin. You may feel a warm, stinging sensation similar to the snapping of a rubber band against your skin. This sensation is generally very well tolerated by patients, and no anesthetic is required.

Is laser hair removal treatment safe?
Laser and pulsed-light hair removal have been approved in Canada and the United States for permanent hair reduction on all skin types, including fair, olive, tanned, and all dark skin types. However, prior to any treatment, you are advised to meet with our medical staff to discuss and understand your particular needs and the potential risks and benefits of laser treatment.

Can anyone have laser hair removal treatment?
Treatments are most effective for individuals of any skin type who have medium- to dark-coloured hair. Fine and light hair-blonde, red, white and grey hair-is generally considered to respond poorly to laser and pulsed-light technology. At CARLING LASER CLINIC, our state-of-the-art laser technology allows us to safely and effectively treats all skin types, including dark and tanned skin.

When will I see the results?
Laser treatments impair growth capacity of hair follicles in their active growth stage. Since not all follicles are in this active stage at the same time, several treatments may be necessary to achieve the results you desire. Most patients see a noticeable reduction in hair growth in five to eight treatments; however, factors such as hair density, age and hormones may affect your personal treatment results. Most patients require between three and eight treatments to reach their treatment goals.

What can I expect after treatment?
You may experience slight redness in the treated area; this resolves within minutes to hours. Sun exposure should be limited and sunscreen should be applied for a few days after treatment. For one or two weeks after treatment, hair follicles may seem to grow; however, these are usually lifeless hairs that will eventually fall out.
